HOW LIFE HAPPENS

From a gray businessman to a colorful artist. I didn't plan it. But the desire for a creative life became stronger and stronger. And I just allowed it to happen. In my mid-40s, I quit my job in the financial industry and gave my life a completely new direction. Without any experience I took the plunge into the art world. To completely turn your life around and start from scratch in a field that you don't know at all, that takes courage and confidence.

And that's exactly what my art is all about. To free yourself from well-known patterns and conventions. Not thinking too much about the consequences or obstacles. Being open to new things and boldly take the opportunities that life offers.

Just let it flow.

WHY I PAINT

For me, creating art is the most satisfying and powerful thing there is. However, I never thought I would do this full time. I worked as an entrepreneur and manager in various industries. Even though I was good at what I did, I always felt like it was just a job. I always had the desire to do something more authentic and fulfilling. When I quit my last job in the financial industry, I didn't know what was to come. I took some time out, realigned my mind-set and suddenly found myself in the art world. Since then I’m letting things take their course an don't force anything. I let myself go and look forward to the unexpected. Having the courage to look beyond the ordinary and don't be afraid to create new realities. This applies to both my art and my way of life.

HOW I PAINT

In my professional life so far, I have always made plans, created structures and tried to have things under control as best as possible. With my art I now consciously take the opposite path and largely leave the helm to chance. I just concentrate on the color and its effect. Working without a brush or other tools I just pour and spray acrylic paints onto the wet canvas. The color finds its way. Sometimes wild, sometimes gentle, but always unexpected, it flows across the canvas and creates new things in an effortless manner. Sometimes I give the paint time to dry, sometimes I paint wet on wet. This creates structures with holes, cracks or spots in the different layers of paint. Layer by layer, the painting gains more and more character. As with every person, whose character becomes more interesting and unique with every facet.

WHAT I PAINT

I don't see my art as a representation of reality or something concrete that we perceive objectively. I don't paint anything specific, but rather create projection surfaces for the viewer's thoughts and desires. The viewer should not ask himself what can be seen in the painting or what I as an artist want to say with it. What matters is not what is hanging there on the wall, but who is standing in front of it and what it is doing to them. This turns the viewer into an actor. He becomes part of the creative process that I as an artist only initiate.
